The owners are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing and casual, and the food is amazing. I love their sashimi, especially when it comes as part of their lunch set (the grilled eel set is my favorite). My family loves their hwedupbap, and we come regularly for their great service and food!

Favorite Japanese restaurant in the Closter area. All their food is fresh, flavorful, homey; you can't go wrong with any of their selections. Mt. Kisco is about the simple pleasures:
My favorites from here are their udon and tempura (and of course, their sushi selections are great, too). But it's something about their udon and tempura that brings a sense of being home and warmth. Perhaps it's the warm meal, or the gentle, memorable flavors of the hot soup; the satisfying crunch and savor of the tempura... It just hits the spot.
Pictured are the Udon Box (about $18; which comes with udon, tempura, sushi, and a choice of Avocado, California, or Cucumber Rolls) and the Fantastic Roll ($12; salmon, avocado and eel on top of spicy tuna and crab).
Interior is on the smaller scale, but the most intimate memories were from the most intimate spaces. -

My Kisco used to have good food. However, our last visit was horrible. Still frozen sushi, tasteless miso soup, mediocre katsu domburi, and boring salad.
I don't know what happened or why. What I do know is that we will never return. -

Salmon teriyaki box; BAD, DO NOT GET.
Are they kidding with the size of the salmon? It was maximum 3 bites. The broccoli was yellow and clearly old and dry. There was a piece of udon noodle stuck under the broccoli.. who knows why the hell that was there. -

Great service all around.
First off it's BYOB. Second off fresh fish and entrees.
That's all you can ask for when looking for a good sushi spot in Bergen County.
Great lunch deals too!
